Dr. Anisha Kumar joined the Stony Brook Medicine Department of Surgery's Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT) on February 2, 2026. Dr. Kumar will also work closely with Stony Brook University's AI Innovation Institute.

Dr. Kumar comes to Stony Brook from White Plains Hospital (White Plains, NY) where she was the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and an attending physician in the Department of Otolaryngology. While in this position she was named a Castle Connelly Top Doctors 2025 “Rising Star.” Previous to that position, she was an attending physician in the Department of Otolaryngology at Elmhurst Hospital (Queens, NY).
After earning a BA degree from Harvard University (Cambridge, MA) in 2012, Dr. Kumar completed her MD at Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA) in 2016. She then continued her training with a residency in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (Baltimore) in 2021 and a fellowship in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York) in 2022.

Dr. Kumar is board-certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Facial Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Harvard Alumni Association and the Harvard Asian American Alumni.
She has published more than twenty manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, delivered several presentations in regional and national forums and received a number of research awards and grants. Her academic activities include being a journal reviewer for Facial Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Medicine, Facial Plastic Surgery, and Anthropology; and a teaching assistant at Stanford University.
