The Stony Brook Medicine Department of Surgery has added a new member to the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Nicolás Stafforini, MD, joined the faculty today as an Assistant Professor of Surgery.

Dr. Stafforini received his MD from Instituto Universitario Cemic (the CEMIC University Institute), Buenos Aires, in 2015. He completed a General Surgery Residency in 2020 at Buenos Aires' Hospital Central de San Isidro (the Central Hospital of San Isidro) and, this past July, an Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle.

I am particularly excited to work alongside an outstanding team of faculty, staff and trainees; contribute to the continued growth of the vascular surgery program, and help expand the advanced vascular care we provide to patients across the region.”
Dr. Stafforini has published or co-published more than a dozen peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and has delivered several oral and poster presentations. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, the Latino Surgical Society, the Western Vascular Society and Cirujanos Vasculares de Habla Hispana. He is also an Ad Hoc Reviewer for the Journal of Vascular Surgery.
