Introducing Our New ENT/Rhinology Specialist Dr. Sonya Marcus

Expertise in the Management of Sinus and Nasal Conditions Including Skull Base Tumors

We are very pleased to introduce Sonya Marcus, MD, who has joined our Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Division.

Dr. Marcus comes to Stony Brook Medicine from Emory University where she completed fellowship training in advanced rhinology (nose/sinus care) and minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery.

Dr. Marcus’s practice focuses on the management of all problems related to the sinuses, nose, and nasal function. Her area of specialization encompasses the medical and surgical management of problems with breathing and nasal deformity and with disorders of the sinuses.

She also brings expertise in the newest areas of minimally invasive endoscopic management of various conditions, including tumors, of the adjacent skull base area and brain.

Among the conditions that Dr. Marcus treats are:

  • Cerebrospinal fluid leak
  • Chronic rhinosinusitis

Dr. Marcus is a member of the multidisciplinary Skull Base Surgery Center of Stony Brook Medicine’s Neuroscience Institute.

Dr. Marcus received her MD from Wake Forest University in 2013. She then completed her residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at New York University, followed by a 12-month fellowship in rhinology and skull base surgery at Emory University.

Dr. Marcus sees patients at our offices in Commack and East Setauket.
