Our Surgeons

James J. Nicholson, MD, FAAOS

Director of our Joint Replacement Center at Stony Brook Hospital, he is fellowship-trained in the treatment of arthritic conditions and in primary hip and knee replacements as well as revision hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Nicholson sees patients in our outpatient facility at 14 Technology Drive, Suite 11 where he evaluates, diagnoses, and treats, them. Dr. Nicholson also performs surgeries at Stony Brook Hospital for patients in need of hip and knee replacement surgery and for patients who need revision surgery.

Dr. Fazel Khan

Fazel Khan, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Fazel Khan is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement surgery; including minimally invasive and computer-assisted surgery, bone tumor surgery, soft tissue tumor surgery, and general orthopaedics. In addition to his extensive training, Dr. Khan actively participates in orthopaedic research studies on robotic and computer-assisted technologies for the ultra-precise removal of bone tumors.

Seth Korbin, MD Seth Korbin, MD, Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Seth Korbin is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery. He treats patients with the latest operative and non-operative treatments for joint arthritis. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University with a focus on tissue-sparing surgeries, treating failed hip and knee replacements as well as infected joint replacements. He sees patients at Stony Brook Orthopaedic Associates in East Setauket in our outpatient facility at 14 Technology Drive, Suite 11. He also sees and treats patients at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital at 240 Meeting House Lane. He performs surgeries at Stony Brook University Hospital and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for patients in need of hip and knee replacement surgery and for patients who need revision surgery. Dr. Korbin is currently directing the Joint Replacement Program at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
Jeffery S Mulrad

Jeffrey S. Muhlrad, MD

Dr. Jeffrey Muhlrad is available for consultation regarding arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. He will offer the full gamut of non operative treatment options and recommend surgical intervention when appropriate. Dr. Muhlrad is also available to provide evaluation for those having concerns or issues following prior joint replacement or for second opinions prior to surgery.

Mr. Giglio is a Physical Therapist who administers physical therapy treatments to post-operative hip and knee replacement patients. He also teaches the physical therapy portion of the pre-operative teaching class.

Ms. Graziani is liaison between Dr. Nicholson and patients with regard to booking of surgeries, processing of insurance approvals, and other vital issues involved with the surgical process. She processes patient requests for filling out forms, obtaining insurance authorization, as well as patient inquiries regarding every aspect of their care.

Nurse Manager
Ms. Hoffman is the inpatient Nurse Manager of the 14 South Orthopaedic Unit. Her responsibilities include the overseeing of all nursing care given to hip and knee replacement patients.

Fran Francisca Owusu, A-GNP-C
Nurse Practitioner/Coordinator
Ms. Owusu is a Nurse Practitioner who works at Stony Brook Hospital in the care of patients with hip and knee conditions and those undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery. Francisca coordinates many of the activities of the Joint Replacement Center.

Ms. Rigney is an outpatient Patient Care Technician who works at 14 Technology Drive, Suite 11. She coordinates patient flow during office visits, prepares injection set-ups, radiograph processing and obtainment of reports of patient studies.
