The Pulmonary Hypertension Center

The Pulmonary Hypertension Center at Stony Brook Medical Center’s goal is to diagnose and treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and pulmonary hypertension (PH) caused by other diseases, including heart and lung disease, as well as pulmonary embolism. The center also manages right heart failure and other causes of dyspnea.

Research efforts are focused on risk prediction and non-invasive biomarkers of pulmonary arterial hypertension, diagnosis and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension and acute pulmonary embolism, treatment of pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular failure in the ICU, and diagnosis and treatment of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). 

Jignesh Patel, MD MSc is core faculty with Jacqueline Skarre, NP actively participating in both patient care at the PH center and coordinating PH patient support group events.
