LISA ROMARD

Lisa Romard, RN, MSN, CPNP, ANP, AE-C, Stony Brook Children’s Department of Pediatrics, along with a group of our healthcare professionals, staffed a table outside our cafeteria during Asthma Awareness Month in May.

Lisa has been involved in Asthma education and awareness for more than two decades. In the 1990s, she was involved with the American Lung Association and became a member of the Asthma Coalition of Long Island (ACLI) when it was established in 2000.

“My interest was always in patient education and support for families,” she said.

Lisa volunteers her time at the Asthma Coalition and helps them review and develop tools and literature for Asthma. She brought the tools to our Pediatric Department and offers Asthma education classes to parents when their child is admitted with Asthma. The educational tools have been approved by our own Patient Education Committee, where Lisa serves as a member.

Lisa is a member of the National Asthma Educators Association and was a speaker at its annual conference. She also volunteers at health fairs and fundraising events.
