Happy Employee Appreciation Day

Friday, March 4, is National Employee Appreciation Day — another important time to celebrate and thank YOU!

As we mark the second-year anniversary since the start of this global pandemic, I remain proud and honored to work beside an exceptional team of dedicated, compassionate and resilient employees across all areas of Stony Brook University Hospital. You all continue to give your very best, navigate new challenges and demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness in this ever-changing world, all in support of our patients, your colleagues and our community. I know it isn’t easy, and I truly appreciate the important role you play in fulfilling our mission and vision every day.

We care deeply for our employees, and your satisfaction and engagement are extremely important to us. We remain committed to building and nurturing a culture of employee engagement, as engaged employees feel more involved, committed, passionate and empowered. This, in turn, has a direct impact on both our quality of care and the patient experience. With your help, we have made strides in our employee engagement efforts, and thanks to your feedback in the recent Employee and Physician Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey, we have additional insight to help us further drive meaningful change. You can learn more about our employee engagement improvement plans and accomplishments by visiting ThePulse. We encourage you to provide ongoing feedback and ideas on how we can continue to shape the employee experience and culture.

As we celebrate Employee Appreciation Day, we hope you enjoy some of the many activities happening this week, including leadership rounding, leadership welcomes, Stony Brook Medicine-branded chocolate bars that are being distributed to the departments/units and Resilience Room offerings. Also, be on the lookout for a special email on Friday morning to learn more about our employee engagement programs, activities and offerings, available support resources for employees and opportunities to get involved.

And just around the corner, we will be celebrating another important event, Compliance and Ethics Week from March 7 to 11. On Employee Appreciation Day, we also recognize the integral role of our employees to support a strong culture of compliance at Stony Brook Medicine. Next week, the Compliance Team will share helpful resources and information related to the Compliance Program.

During Employee Appreciation Day, I hope you will take some time to recognize and take pride in our collective successes as we bring compassionate care to our patients, families and the community we serve. On behalf of the entire Stony Brook Medicine leadership team, thank you for your hard work and for making a difference in the lives of others!

Carol
