The new Stony Brook University Medical Center Ambulatory Surgery Center - complete with eight operating rooms and the latest equipment and monitors - has the capability of performing almost any procedure that is suitable for outpatient surgery. The staff is trained in all aspects of surgical care for everyone - from young children to senior citizens.

Those patients who may require a hospital admission or possibly require a blood transfusion will be better served in the hospital's ambulatory unit. There are no limits on the duration of the surgery or complexity of the surgery performed at the Center, provided that the intention is for the patient to go home the same day as the surgery. We will perform surgery on full-term children from six months of age. The Center actively services qualified surgeons in the specialties of ear nose and throat surgery, gynecology, plastic surgery, podiatry, general surgery, pediatric surgery, oral and dental surgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, pain management and urological surgery.
