Our board-certified gastroenterologists within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology pride themselves on the collaborative relationships they have developed with physicians in the community and in the tri-state area. These exceptional physicians, with expertise in key gastroenterology (GI) areas, are available to you for consultations and referrals. We are fortunate to be an integral part of Stony Brook University Hospital, Long Island’s premier academic medical center, where we can draw on the resources of world-class physicians, healthcare staff, technology and state-of-the-art facilities. You can feel confident about referring your patients to us for their gastrointestinal care.
We offer a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gastrointestinal disease. Within Gastroenterology and Hepatology, two centers have been established for specialized care to better serve your patients. Detailed information about each one can be accessed by viewing the following links: Interventional Endoscopy Center and Infammatory Bowel Diseases Center. The Liver Disease Clinic offers diagnostic and treatment for hepatology conditions and diseases.
The Endoscopy Unit, located within Stony Brook University Hospital, has received the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognition as a center of excellence. The unit has been expanded to accommodate an increased demand for services. More than 8,000 endoscopic procedures are performed annually.
Our Division achieved national recognition, ranked in the Top 50 in U.S.News & World Report’s “2010-11 Best Hospitals” issue. I’m proud of our entire team — faculty, nurses, staff, residents and fellows — whose tireless efforts contributed to this accomplishment. Of the 1,892 hospitals that qualified for ranking, Stony Brook was one of only 152 medical centers that scored high enough to be ranked.
We welcome calls from our colleagues. Both patients and referring physicians receive timely communication every step of the way. The Division’s staff ensures continued care and post-procedure follow-up back to the referring physician. Our goal is the same as yours: providing compassionate, expert care to our patients. To refer a patient, please call (631) 444-5220.
