Dear Friend,
Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) provides a unique combination of research, teaching and healing. As part of the State University of New York, SBUH is not only a teaching hospital/medical school but is home to the longest active transplant program on Long Island.
Transplantation Services as part of the SBUH mission, take pride in providing the highest level of care to the widest range of patients possible. Transplantation Services is a key element in our efforts to be a leader in the health care delivery system. Our multi-disciplinary transplant team consists of surgeons, nephrologists, coordinators, nurses, laboratory personnel, social work, financial counseling and an administrative staff all dedicated to providing the renal patient with quality care.
All members of the team work hard to ensure that the experience at SBUMC Transplantation Services is a great one with a great outcome. Our Transplant Surgeons have performed over 1,400 kidney transplants with a success rate that stands at over 94% at one year. Our clinical services are provided by a team of transplant physicians and nephrologists with a special interest in the patient.
When you decide to come to SBUH for treatment of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) through transplantation, you are assured of receiving top quality care. We are proud of the men and women that have dedicated their professional lives to this program and we look forward to providing you with a chance to receive a kidney transplant from one of the finest programs in New York State.
We hope that you will take the opportunity to meet with the Transplant Team and get to know on a first hand basis the people that can help change your life.
