Diagnostic Testing: An Integral Part of Keeping Your Heart Healthy

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” —Benjamin Franklin

imageAt North Suffolk Cardiology, we put preventive care at the forefront of our practice. Catching and addressing a health  concern before it develops into a more significant disease can, and often does, save a life. Diagnostic testing is integral in properly diagnosing a problem.

We’ve made it easy to get your testing done by providing many of the tests in the same office as your cardiologist visit. We continue to add the newest state-of-the-art imaging equipment and technology.

Some of the diagnostic tests that we offer include:

Myocardial PET Stress Test Program

This is the most accurate noninvasive method of detecting coronary artery disease.  It can be performed in as little as 30 minutes and has up to 90% less radiation exposure than traditional stress test methods.  We are the only practice in the area that has this technology available for our patients.

Echocardiography

This is a sonogram of the heart that reveals critical information about cardiac structure and function.  For most patients with cardiovascular symptoms, this test is a mainstay of care that your cardiologist may recommend. There are no risks involved with this diagnostic exam, and it is performed in the comfort of our office in 30 minutes.

Treadmill Stress Test

This test is used for detection of coronary artery disease.  The patient walks on a treadmill while their EKG is being monitored under the supervision of a qualified medical professional.

Vascular Testing

This is a noninvasive procedure using ultrasound technology where a registered vascular technologist evaluates the blood flow through arteries and veins.  Early detection of any abnormality can aid in the prevention of stroke, heart disease, or circulation issues.  If these vascular problems go undiagnosed they can lead to serious complications.

Holter Monitoring

This is a device that is worn for 24 to 48 hours.  While wearing it the patient performs their daily activities while the electrical impulses of the heart are being monitored for any abnormalities.
