Dr. Benson joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2013 and has quickly become one of the most experienced electrophysiologists in the area. Dr. Benson specializes in the management of cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). Dr. Benson offers both medication-based management of arrhythmias as well as invasive therapies including radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation. Through the use of novel technology such as intracardiac 3-D mapping and intracardiac ultrasound, Dr. Benson is able to provide patients with exceptional clinical outcomes while minimizing radiation exposure and improving patient safety. Dr. Benson received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in 1998 and went on to complete his internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. In 2005, he completed fellowships in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. He currently serves as a Clinical Instructor at Stony Brook University Hospital and holds privileges at several additional community hospitals in Suffolk County. Prior to joining North Suffolk Cardiology, Dr. Benson served as the Associate Director of Electrophysiology at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. |

Dr. Bruno is a founding member of North Suffolk Cardiology. He is credited as being the first cardiologist to practice in the Port Jefferson/Three Village area and remains a leading physician in the community. Dr. Bruno is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology and has a special interest in nuclear cardiology and the treatment of heart failure. He is currently Chief of Cardiology at Mather Hospital and St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. Dr. Bruno also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Cardiology, Stony Brook University Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Padua in Padua, Italy. Since joining North Suffolk Cardiology in 2006, Dr. Cesa has built a practice with a special interest in valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease and cardiovascular disease in pregnancy. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Cesa received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn. Dr. Chryssos is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Additionally, he is a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI). Dr. Chryssos completed his internal medicine training at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his fellowship in cardiology and subspecialty fellowship in vascular medicine at the Ochsner Clinic at the renowned John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute (JOHVI) in New Orleans. While at the Ochsner Clinic, he was trained in the aggressive management of cardiac atherosclerosis as well as atherosclerosis of non-cardiac arteries. Dr. Chryssos received the Dr. Herman Price award for clinical excellence in heart failure and the Dr. Edward Genton award for clinical excellence in cardiology. He was also honorably selected to be the Chief Cardiology Fellow for the Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute in his final year. Dr. Chryssos' unique training made him an expert in the management of atherosclerosis and the diagnosis of subclinical (early) atherosclerotic disease through advanced cardiovascular imaging. He is trained in the most advanced, noninvasive cardiovascular imaging techniques, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular ultrasound and cardiovascular computed tomography. Dr. Chryssos is a proponent of aggressive risk factor evaluation for the early diagnosis of atherosclerotic disease through noninvasive testing and aggressive treatment to minimize cardiovascular events. His primary clinical focus is in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic disease of the coronary, carotid, peripheral and renal arteries. He also treats aneurysmal disease, venous insufficiency and venous thrombosis. Dr. Franko joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 1998. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1992 and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was then asked to remain at Beth Israel Medical Center, where he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship. Dr. Franko has a special interest and completed advanced training in echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, lipid and congestive heart failure management. He has an interest in and recognizes the relationship between sleep disorders and cardiovascular disease states. Examples include hypertension, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease and cardiomyopathy. Dr. Franko practices preventative cardiology. He manages and treats valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias and a variety of lipid disorders. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine as well as echocardiography and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Gor joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2012. He is board certified in internal medicine, vascular ultrasound, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography, nuclear medicine and cardiac CT. He also has a special interest in pulmonary hypertension. After receiving his undergraduate degree in pharmacology from Stony Brook University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated cum laude. Dr. Gor received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine / Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Following his residency, he served as chief resident of ambulatory care at the Manhattan Veterans Administration. Robert A. Kulina, MD, MS, FACC Dr. Kulina joins North Suffolk Cardiology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Originally from Virginia, he attended medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was honored to be selected as Chief Fellow for his final year of his fellowship and is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Echocardiography and American College of Cardiology. Dr. Kulina provides general cardiology care to adults and manages and treats arrhythmias, hypertension, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathies and lipid disorders. Lev Lubarsky, DO, FACC, FASE, FSCCT Dr. Lubarsky joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2007 and has become a leader in the community in cardiovascular imaging. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac CT angiography. He is also Level III certified by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography in cardiac CTA, a distinction shared by only a handful of cardiologists in Suffolk County. In addition to cardiovascular imaging, Dr. Lubarsky has a special interest in preventive cardiology, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and atherosclerotic heart disease. Dr. Lubarsky received his medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. He completed his training in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and cardiac computed tomography at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. In the community, Dr. Lubarsky is also known for his role in helping create a local center of excellence in cardiac imaging in association with Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology. He serves as the Director of Cardiac CT at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown and St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage. Dr. McBrearty joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 1995 and also serves as the Director of our certified echocardiography laboratory. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology and has a special interest in nuclear cardiology, echocardiology and transesophageal echocardiography. He is an alumnus of Cornell University and received his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. Neal B. Patel, MD, FACC, FSCAI Dr. Patel joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2011. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear medicine and interventional cardiology. Dr. Patel's areas of expertise include coronary angioplasty, stenting and percutaneous treatment of peripheral vascular disease. He performs invasive cardiac procedures at Stony Brook University Hospital and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown. Dr. Patel received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Restrepo joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2016. Her interests include the full spectrum of cardiovascular illness, including atherosclerotic disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure and valvular heart disease. She is a proponent of aggressive risk factor evaluation for the early subclinical atherosclerotic disease through advanced cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Restrepo attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She completed her residency and internship in general medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. She spent time performing basic science research to better understand heart disease under a microscope. She was asked to stay to complete her fellowship in cardiovascular medicine, followed by a cardiology imaging year at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ribaudo is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He has a special interest in valvular heart disease, atherosclerotic vascular disease and lipid management. Since joining our practice in 1983, Dr. Ribaudo has served as the Chief of Cardiology at St. Charles Hospital as well as the President of the medical staff and medical board. He was the co-founder of the Chest Pain emergency room on Long Island and the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Programs at Mather Hospital. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Cardiology, Stony Brook University Hospital. He was also a former managing partner at North Suffolk Cardiology. Dr. Ribaudo received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and came to New York City for his post-graduate training. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Manhattan, before returning to Georgetown University to complete his fellowship in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Sadlofsky joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2009. His interests include the full spectrum of cardiovascular illness, including atherosclerotic disease, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease and dyslipidemia. His educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he graduated with distinction in all subjects. He went on to receive his medical degree at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. His clinical training included eight years at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, where he completed his internship and medical residency. He was selected to be chief medical resident and spent an extra year serving in this capacity. Trevor A. Verga, MD, FACC, FHRS Dr. Verga joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2010. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear medicine and cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Verga is the first physician on Long Island to perform the LARIAT left atrial appendage suture exclusion procedure for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib). LARIAT is an innovative, minimally invasive method designed to easily remove the part of the heart in which 90% of blood clots form, with the goal of reducing stroke risk for patients with atrial fibrillation. In addition, Dr. Verga is among the first physicians in Suffolk County to offer cryothermal (cryo) ablation for atrial fibrillation. Cryoablation is a far less painful method of performing AFib ablation. Procedure time is markedly reduced when compared with traditional radiofrequency ablation, offering patients shorter post-procedure recovery times. Dr. Verga received his medical degree from NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his internal medicine residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, where he was asked to stay an additional year to serve as chief medical resident. He completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical System, where he also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow in his final year. Jonathan B. Weinstein, DO, FACC Dr. Jonathan Weinstein completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan in 1995 before attending the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. He completed his residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital, where he was selected to serve as chief medical resident. Dr. Weinstein then completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease in the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, where he was selected as Chief Cardiology Fellow and where he also went on to complete a subspecialty fellowship in interventional cardiology. |

Laura A. Wolfe-McCaffrey, DO, FACC
Dr. Wolfe joined North Suffolk Cardiology in 2017. She grew up in eastern Suffolk County and is excited to serve the community that she calls home. Dr. Wolfe is an alumna of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. While there, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated cum laude. Dr. Wolfe graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA, in 2011. She completed her internal medicine residency at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, NY, where she was distinctly selected to complete a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the hospital. While there, Dr. Wolfe honorably served as the Chief Cardiology Fellow. She was trained in noninvasive cardiology specializing in cardiovascular diseases in women and cardiovascular disease in pregnancy. Dr. Wolfe also has a special interest in valvular heart disease and primary prevention cardiovascular medicine. She was trained in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac intensive care management. She is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
