This website was created to help clinicians and researchers navigate the steps needed to conduct research with patient data during a time that necessitates rapid approvals, data collection/data access, analysis and reporting. To streamline access to the Data Commons both for QA/QI projects as well as research and to promote sound scientific COVID-19 research, a Data Access Committee (DAC) has been formed, led jointly by Drs. Sharon Nachman and Mary Saltz. This committee comprises subject matter experts from across Stony Brook Medicine to ensure that appropriate expertise is present to evaluate proposals relating to COVID-19 patient research, which would potentially use data in the Data Commons. The role of the committee is to ensure that researchers work together on areas of common interest, that the proposals are scientifically sound and that the information needed can be reasonably obtained from either TriNetX or the Stony Brook Medicine COVID-19 Data Commons.
