Jonathan Grossman, LCSW-R is a New York State licensed clinical social worker who earned an MSW from New York University, Silver School of Social Work in 1991. Mr. Grossman is a clinician with 30 years of highly concentrated behavioral health experience. His professional journey began working in OMH licensed residential treatment facilities for the persistently mentally ill where he served as Assistant Program Director. Subsequent experience included a transition into positions of providing direct treatment in various outpatient community mental health programs. This work included individual, family, group and martial psychotherapy with a diverse population diagnosed with a range of psychiatric disorders and symptoms. Over the course of his career he earned administrative responsibilities and opportunities with his clinical work.
Mr. Grossman has been an active member of NASW since 1991 and has attended numerous postgraduate workshops on a variety of disorders and issues related to mental health. He attended formal training in cognitive behavioral therapy from 2005-2008 under a psychologist certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He obtained his SIFI certification through the Stony Brook, School of Social Welfare in 2010 and has provided clinical instruction to students from various universities pursuing advanced clinical training in social work. In 2018 he was awarded the Adelphi University School of Social Work Field Instructor of the Year award and joined the Stony Brook School of Social Welfare in 2019 as a field liaison.
Mr. Grossman recently served as Clinical Director for the Suffolk County community-based programs of New Horizon Counseling Center. This opportunity provided exposure to working in the forefront of community behavioral health with the ability to develop excellent community relationships. In this position, Mr. Grossman also served as the coordinator of the agency’s Incident Review Committee and clinical trainer for new hires. Mr. Grossman enjoys working with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, LGBTQ+ issues and suicide prevention.
