New Opportunity
The Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center in partnership with the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are pleased to present this new online resource to support long-term care workforce during the time of the COVID-19 Pandemic response.
“We know that our long-term care settings have been disproportionately affected COVID-19 with high rates of infection and mortality of vulnerable residents, while the direct care workforce in these settings have been the unsung heroes providing compassionate care in incredibly challenging circumstances - staffing shortages, PPE shortages, limits on family visitation, and high rates of exposure and infection among health care workers. Our front-line workers deserve the best support and training in these challenging times.”
Thomas V. Caprio, MD, MPH, MS, CMD, HMDC, FACP, AGSF, FAAHPM
Professor of Medicine/Geriatrics, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Clinical Nursing, & Public Health Sciences
Director, Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center
The online module, Stress First Aid for Long-Term Care, is a self-care and peer support model adapted specifically for long-term care health care personnel.
