The Rev. David Fleenor, the founding manager of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Stony Brook University Hospital, is a board-certified chaplain, ACPE-certified educator, and Episcopal priest. He also holds a clinical instructor role in the Department of Family, Population, and Preventive Medicine at the Renaissance School of Medicine.

Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Health Sciences at Rush University, David is under the mentorship of Dr. George Fitchett. His research and dissertation are centered on establishing national curriculum standards for healthcare chaplains. Before joining Stony Brook in January 2022, he directed the Center for Spirituality and Health's education programs at Mount Sinai, including various CPE programs. Additionally, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, he taught medical students about integrating spiritual care in medicine.
