Dara Brener, MD, FACP, Clinical Quality Director, Clinical Associate Professor
Dr. Brener is a primary care physician that has been serving the community for more than 10 years. As a primary care physician, she not only sees her patients when they are sick but plays a vital role in keeping them healthy.
"I am beyond excited to have joined Stony Brook Medicine and to be working with leading specialists on Long Island. As a team, I am looking forward to growing a strong primary care base with Stony Brook Medicine and providing the most comprehensive care for my patients," said Dr. Brener.
Shabraiz Rasul, MD, is a primary care physician who received his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton, NY. Passionate about serving his community, Dr. Rasul is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care that supports the health and well-being of his patients. He values the opportunity to collaborate with fellow providers at Stony Brook Medicine to ensure patients receive care that is both expert and deeply connected.
Justin M. Waryold, DNP, NP-C, GS-C, FAANP
Justin M. Waryold is an Assistant Professor at Upstate Medical University and is the director Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner program. Mr. Waryold’s academic career is focused on adult-geriatric health within the primary and acute care environment. His doctoral scholarship includes research in the transition of care of older adults from the hospital environment to the home. In addition, he completed a post-doctoral scholarship with a focus on educating advanced practice nursing students on the importance of sexual health and well-being. Through this course, he evaluated the students’ increasing knowledge and comfort with the healthcare needs of LGBTQ* community. Currently, Mr. Waryold practices internal medicine in a primary care setting and is a listed provider of primary care services for the LGBTQ* community. His area of interest includes promoting sexual health care across the lifespan and improving access to care for the LGBTQ* community.
Neha Chowdhury, PA-C, is a physician assistant who received her bachelor’s degree in health science and Master of Science from Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. She has experience in internal, family and emergency medicine, as well as experience in pediatrics. Neha is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the New York State Society of Physician Assistants. Neha is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and is committed to building strong patient relationships founded on trust, communication and collaboration.
Rachele D’Ambrosio is a board-certified adult gerontology nurse practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Seton Hall University and her Master of Science in nursing at Stony Brook University. Before being a nurse practitioner, she spent 10 years as a critical care registered nurse at New York Presbyterian and various other hospitals. Rachele is looking forward to serving the community by providing comprehensive preventive care.
Michael Schwartz is a Nurse Practitioner in internal medicine who works in tandem with Justin Waryold, DNP, and is a graduate of the Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner program at SUNY Upstate Medical University, in Syracuse, New York. His clinical focus is on the prevention and treatment of adult and geriatric health conditions in the primary care setting, grounded in a patient-centered, holistic approach that respects each person’s goals, identity, and lived experience. Michael is also a career paramedic with more than 18 years of experience, and his nursing background includes emergency medicine, critical care, and hospital administration, with experience across Nassau County. He has a particular interest in the physical and psychological health of first responders and law enforcement officers, including the impact of occupational stress and trauma across the lifespan. In addition, he is committed to promoting sexual health and well-being and to providing inclusive, affirming primary care for members of the LGBTQ* community while improving their access to high-quality, relationship-based care.
