Dr. Howard Hinestroza is a board certified pediatrician who completed the Sophie Davis Biomedical program in 1998 and went on to graduate from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2001 and then completed my pediatric residency at Miami Children's Hospital in 2004. He then received a 2 year Adolescent Medicine subspecialty training at Texas Children's Hospital of the Baylor School of Medicine where he also completed a two year Leadership and Education of Adolescent Health fellowship sponsored by the Department of Maternal and Child Health Bureau. He’s had the privilege of working in metropolitan hospitals and community health clinics as well as in private practice in the last 10 years. Dr. Hinestroza recently served as one of the pediatricians at the Lutheran outpatient community clinic in Brooklyn, where he taught and provided clinical supervision to medical students and residents, and was nominated to receive the Teacher of the year award.
Dr. Hinestroza recently completed a research Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College to obtain a Masters in clinical science that will enhance his community based participatory research skills and improve the health of the general population. His newly acquired skills also assisted in the development of the Lutheran Medical Center Adolescent clinic which provided comprehensive care, including reproductive and mental health, targeting this vulnerable population.
