LGBTQ* individuals may have an increased risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis or HIV. Stony Brook Infectious Disease providers are experts in diagnosing and treating these conditions as well as other infectious diseases.
The HIV program at Stony Brook, one of New York's first Designated AIDS Centers, provides comprehensive care (including medical care and essential supportive services) for people who are living with HIV or affected by HIV.

Stony Brook's HIV Prevention Program provides education and assessments for HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication to help prevent contracting HIV. Individuals can be referred to providers for PrEP evaluations and prescriptions. Visit Our HIV PrEP Website or call 631-559-6138 for more information about the program.
