Health Equality Leader

Stony Brook Medicine and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital have been re-designated as "Leaders in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality" by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation for 2022-2024. Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital has joined us as a "Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality" by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation for 2022-2024. The HRC is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization. Healthcare Equality Leader status is a competitive designation that requires facilities to met strict criteria in five areas: Non-Discrimination and Staff Training; Patient Services and Support; Employee Benefits and Policies; Patient and Community Engagement; and Responsible Citizenship. Stony Brook gaining this designation would further demonstrate our commitment to provide high quality, equitable care to all patients in Suffolk County. We are thrilled to be able to provide this to our community.
