Endoscopic Approaches to Treatment

What are endoscopic approaches to treatment of reflux?

There have been many advances in endoscopic interventions for the treatment of GERD in the recent years that are effective in managing GERD symptoms in selective situations.

  • Transoral incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure to reconstruct valves between the esophagus and stomach, in a way that mimics surgical fundoplication, which helps prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus.
  • Additionally,  minimally invasive techniques using endoscopic suturing techniques (MASE, RAP) and endoscopic ablation techniques (ARAT) may be options in select patients.

Our multidisciplinary team approach allows us to individualize the appropriate treatment options depending on symptoms, anatomy and preferences.
