The Stony Brook Vascular Center, opened in 2015, is a spacious new facility that supports the growing clinical practice of our vascular surgeons.

The Vascular Center is conveniently located in Nicolls Professional Park at 23 South Howell Avenue, Suite G — just off Middle Country Road in Centereach, NY, where it intersects with Nicolls Road (see map).

Satellite offices in Suffolk County are located in Smithtown, Commack, Patchogue, Hampton Bays, and Southampton.

The facility is complete with on-site procedure rooms, plus an angiography room.

The Vascular Center has demonstrated its commitment to patient safety by gaining accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (read more).

This patient-friendly facility serves as the home of our Aortic Center, Center for Vein Care, Hemodialysis Access Center, and Limb Preservation Center.

Our new office is designed to offer our patients clinical evaluation with the most advanced diagnostic tests and state-of-the-art procedure rooms for minimally invasive office-based procedures.

About the Vascular Center, Apostolos K. Tassiopoulos, MD, professor of surgery and chief of vascular and endovascular surgery, says:

"Our new office is designed to offer our patients clinical evaluation with the most advanced diagnostic tests and state-of-the-art procedure rooms for minimally invasive office-based procedures.

"We have expanded our facility to include an outpatient angiography suite for diagnostic and therapeutic endovascular interventions.

"Our outstanding team extends far beyond this building, and this new center is designed to offer patients a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

"By delivering care in this manner, patients receive proactive management and early interventions, and are able to maintain a quality of life that would have been otherwise compromised.

"We pride ourselves in not only delivering outcomes that are among the best in the nation, but in treating each patient with a thorough and timely diagnosis and individualized treatment plan to control risk factors, prevent emergencies, and ultimately save lives."

Our vascular specialists provide diagnosis and treatment of a complete range of vascular disorders, including:

  • Arterial blockages (PAD)
  • Aneurysms
  • Carotid artery disease
  • Malformations
  • Dialysis access
  • Vein disease

Our team includes our nine physicians and a vascular physiologist, plus our clinical and administrative support staff — all dedicated to Stony Brook Medicine's mission of excellence in patient care.

We also offer expertise in:

  • Complex aortic aneurysms (AAA and TAA)
  • Pelvic congestion syndrome
  • Minimally invasive procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, fistulograms, and new treatments for varicose veins

When patients see one of our experts at the Vascular Center, they are offered the most focused solution to meet their needs, and in many cases, treatments are performed right here on an outpatient basis, with the goal of patients being able to return quickly to their everyday activities with an improved quality of life.

The Stone Brook Vascular Center is fully accredited for vascular testing by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). This accreditation is a "seal of approval" patients can count on.
