2013 National Doctors' Day

Stony Brook Medicine and Stony Brook Children's Hospital encouraged our patients, families of patients and supporters to send a "thank you" to their favorite doctor or team of doctors in honor of National Doctors' Day. We were overwhelmed by the extreme gratitude of everyone who shared their experience with us!

Below are some excerpts from the Thank You's we received:

"Dr. Bong Soon Kim did very great work in treating my cancer in October of 2012 and I want to thank him for it."

"My 11-month-old son had surgery for a rare Hepatic Liver Cyst, received a blood transfusion, and spent a week in the hospital. Thank you, Dr. Susan Lee and nurses, for your knowledge and compassion during such a difficult time. You are all angels here on earth!"

"Dr. Michael Pearl is honest, kind, supportive and gives me the best care possible. He encouraged me to join a trial and I'm grateful to be able to, as he put it, 'help my sisters'. The combination of his artful skill and my hard work gave me a future."

"I appreciate doctors, but I also appreciate nurses. I would like to thank the nurse, Penny, in the NICU at Stony Brook University Hospital. She is the reason why my daughter was released from the NICU and alllowed to go home. She was wonderful!!"

"Thank you, Dr. Steven Sampson, for fixing my son Logan's thumb after a horrific accident. You are not only the best hand surgeon, but a kind man. You were so nice, we knew we could trust our baby with you!"

"Dr. Ralph Epstein - words cannot express the amount of gratitude we feel for you for fixing Anthony's lip 7 years ago when he was bit by a dog. He's 12 now and you can barely see the scar! Your confidence, mixed with kindness, reassured us that you were the doctor for the job. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. What you did was a miracle!"

"Dr. Stephen Vlay brought me back from the "brink" on November 15, 1997 after I had suffered a devastating MI.  He, along with many doctors and nurses, particularly Ginny Smith Fitzgerald, at Stony Brook gave me a second chance.  Words cannot adequately convey the gratitude I and my family have for this gift."
