Volunteering comes naturally to Sue Isca, Managed Care Enrollment Associate in the Managed Care Department.
Sue has been volunteering every weekend for the past five years at the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (SCCADV). Her involvement started when she began watching children one night a week at the shelter, where she quickly earned the nickname “Miss Sue, the babysitter.”
She nominated the SCCADV for Stony Brook University Hospital’s Michael A. Maffetone Community Service award. The Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence won the award and is grateful for the monetary gift.
Sue also volunteers at Big Brothers, Big Sisters, where she sponsors a “little sister.”
For Sue, community service is important. “I like getting involved,” she says. “I see it as something I just do, not something out of the ordinary.”
